60 freshly sharpened pencils
We attended supply night at the elementary school tonight (this is code for drop off your $40 worth of school supplies at your kids classroom a few days before school so the teacher can organize and situate the booty before the first day of school). On Spencer's list was 60 sharpened pencils. 60. That means he will be using a new pencil every 2.88 days for the entire school year. Seems right, no?
At least this year I didn't have to supply hand sanitizer or Ziploc baggies for the classroom.
How about you? Any crazy item on your kiddo's school supply list this year? Two years ago, Emma was required to bring eight glue sticks for her science class. Eight glue sticks for an eighth grader?
PS my hubby cannot handle school supply lists! Anything he thinks will only be used by the teacher (i.e. white board pens) makes him go ballistic and he refuses to provide them.
PPS this is in no way a slight to any of my school teacher friends! I know you guys often use your own personal money to buy supplies for your classrooms. I'm thinking maybe instead of all our schools fundraising money being used to buy another rock wall, or piece of playground equipment, maybe we should give it to the teachers to buy items (books, art supplies, puppets etc.. ) for their classrooms.
